Characteristic of Good Thinking

Why do science and philosophy need to use a method in order to find objective truth?

What are the characteristics of good thinking?

  • Open to other ideas & opinions (both sides)
  • Only think about what is important
  • Listening & paying attention to others
  • Think all the way through
  • Organizing your thoughts
  • Keeping record of your thoughts
  • Not getting sidetracked - Stay with your point
  • Have a goal in mind, ultimately to find truth
  • Know consequences of your thoughts
  • Try to stay unbiased
  • Know enough about the subject
  • Make sure brain is functioning properly - health
  • Don’t act on impulse
  • Seek sources of information
  • Define the problem
  • Dig deeper – don’t stick with the first thought
  • Get all the information before you make a decision
  • Be able to support your theory with evidence
